Mary-Jo Sawyer is a native Virginian transplanted to Richmond after attending the Medical College of Virginia (now VCU Medical Center) to complete her training as a registered dietitian. She feels called to help educate the public about nutrition and good health through her job as an outpatient dietitian at VCU Health, public speaking and her prior practical nutrition column with the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Married with two grown sons, one dog and three grand-pets, Sawyer enjoys relaxing by reading or watching good movies. The beach is her happy place, and collecting seashells, her passion.
