Friday, Aug. 5 at 8 p.m. at Altria Theater, Richmond
You may know him from the Netflix comedy “The Upshaws,” in which he stars and also produces. Stand-up comic Mike Epps was also recently seen in the Amazon feature “Troupe Zero.” His current stand-up tour brings him to the Altria stage, to start off your weekend with tears of laughter.
The Inaugural Montpelier Bluegrass & BBQ Festival
Saturday, Aug. 6 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Montpelier Center for Arts & Education, Montpelier
Live music, and plenty of delicious barbecue, with prizes for the best. So, come vote for your favorite. Plus craft vendors, seasonal drinks, cornhole and who knows what all?
BrewHaHa and ‘Cheers, Virginia’ Opening
Saturday, Aug. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, Richmond
Celebrate Virginia Craft Beer Month and the opening of “Cheers, Virginia,” a new exhibition featuring craft brewing, distilling, and fermenting in Virginia, as well as the folks who have captured the soul and identity of Virginia with their intoxicating offerings. The BrewHaHa event will feature beer selections from a variety of Virginia breweries, live music from the Slack Family Band, a food truck, and access to the new exhibit.
The Whiskey Rebellion Grateful Dead Night
Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Firehouse Theatre, Richmond
It’s a bluegrass tribute to the Grateful Dead, and it’s being held on the 27th anniversary of Jerry Garcia’s death.
“Weird Al” Yankovic
Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Dominion Energy Center, Richmond
The biggest-selling comedy recording artist of all time will perform what he promises to be a different show each night on his current “The Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour” tour.
