It’s percussive fun in Richmond, with the energizing spectacle of “STOMP” and the chance to be part of an interactive drum circle. Plus the nostalgia of The Harry Chapin Band, the inspiration of One Voice Chorus, and the suspense of “Dial M for Murder.” In “What’s Booming RVA: We’ve Got the Beat!”


One Voice Chorus Spring 2025 Concerts

New selections and old favorites in an eclectic blend of musical styles, including spirituals, jazz, and popular music, with accompaniment by professional instrumentalists. One hour before each concert is “Diversity Discussions,” a facilitated discussion of diversity-related issues.

“STOMP”

A heart-pounding, toe-tapping combination of percussion, movement, and visual comedy. STOMP uses household and industrial objects as musical instruments to create an entertaining story with visual and auditory delight. “Dial M for Murder”

Hitchcock’s classic murder mystery presents former writer Tony Wendice, who concocts a plan to murder his wealthy wife, Margot. When the deadly scheme goes awry, Margot, with the help of a sharp-witted detective, fights to clear her name and reveal the truth about her husband’s lethal intentions.

The Harry Chapin Band

The six-piece band has continued playing Harry’s most-loved songs for the years following his untimely passing in 1981. Big John Wallace is still on bass and vocals, the band is led by Steve Chapin on piano and vocals, and powered by drummer Howard Fields, the only drummer Harry ever had. Newly added is cello from Arlen Hlusko

March 29, 6:30 p.m., at The Beacon Theatre, Hopewell.

Drum Circle with Third Coast Percussion

Join a community drum circle led by the Grammy Award-winning Third Coast Percussion. The interactive drumming workshop will explore specific rhythm patterns, improvisation, and ways to make music as a collaborative ensemble. No music experience is necessary, and all experience levels are welcome. Bring your own drum, if you have one. A limited supply of instruments will be made available.
