Commonwealth’s Patriot Day Ceremony

Sept. 11, 11 a.m., in the Shrine of Memory – Global War on Terrorism, at the Virginia War Memorial, Richmond

The public ceremony honors the thousands of Americans who were killed during the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon, and the aircraft crash in Pennsylvania 23 years ago. Includes patriotic music (10:40 a.m.), speaker, and wreath-laying. FREE.

Strad Fest

Sept. 12 to 15 at Dominion Energy Center, Richmond

A multi-day celebration of the world’s finest and most coveted instruments: nine legendary Stradivarius violins – handcrafted between 1685-1725 by Italian luthier Antonio Stradivari – and centuries of musical history. Highlights include luthier demonstrations, cinematic melodies with violinist Itzhak Perlman, personal stories and music by Itzhak Perlman, plus the Symphony’s season opening concert.
