What's Booming in Richmond: Lights, Crafts, and Lyin' Kings
The best local events to peel you off your couch
Wish a colorful happy 20th birthday to our local gem, Diversity Richmond. Celebrate all that they do to celebrate diversity and bring our community together with some music, drinks, and tastes … and yes – all are welcome. 20 Years of Diversity Richmond, Thursday, Nov. 21 from 6-8 p.m. at Diversity Richmond.
Sip, shop, and browse in awe: the VisArts Craft + Design Show is coming back, with an entire weekend of crafts and decor from nationwide artists, plus sips and snacks from local vendors. Friday, Nov. 22-Sunday, Nov. 24 at the Main Street Train Shed (plus other locations for other events!).
A troupe of Senate-staffers-turned-comedians take the stage to give us their comic twist on recent politics … and The Capitol Steps birthed The Lyin’ Kings. No party is safe from ridicule, and no audience member is safe from uncontrollable laughter. Friday, Nov. 22 through Sunday, Nov. 24 at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen.
RVA, let’s be honest: who knows lights better than Dominion Energy? Who knows gardens better than Lewis Ginter? Who knows fests better than Richmond? This, obviously, is why the Dominion Energy GardenFest of Lights is among the greatest holiday events around. Enough said. Opens Friday, Nov. 22 and runs through Jan. 6 at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden.
This week: Turkey Trot. Next week: Turkey Trance. Happy almost Thanksgiving, y’all. Saturday, Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. at New Kent Winery.
