Jackson Ward Artist Sir James L. Thornhill has been keeping busy since his BOOMER magazine debut.

It’s been a busy few months for Jackson Ward artist Sir James L. Thornhill since he was profiled in BOOMER’s June-July issue.

In early June, he unveiled his mural at Jamerican restaurant, 400 N. Second St., in Jackson Ward.

Seen from West Marshal Street, the mural pays homage to Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Tubman and others.

In August, Thornhilll finished a mural on the exterior of a building next to Mama J’s Kitchen, 415 N. First St. and exhibited (and sold several of) his works at an event at the SunTrust Building in Richmond. He also secured a deal to paint another mural at Bremo Pharmacy, 2024 Staples Mill Road.
