Virginia’s path of pork and peanuts
The southeastern region of the commonwealth has long been known for its hams and peanuts – think Smithfield hams and Planters Peanuts. Towns, counties and cities of the region have partnered to promote the legendary food in addition to the region’s cultural attractions.
As a sampling, visitors can tour a railroad museum, a farm museum and a peanut museum; visit Bacon’s Castle (no relation to the pork product); explore regional art; take a selfie with Mr. Peanut; and, of course, procure their fill of peanuts, country ham, barbecue and more. Go hog wild
