Paint the Town

En Plein Air

Inspiration arises naturally outside, in the open air – or en plein air, as the French say. For an artist, this means painting outside, capturing subjects from the life and light that lie before the canvas.

As part of “Plein Air Richmond,” June 19-26, 30 of the nation’s best Plein Air artists will paint different Richmond settings each day (Monday through Thursday).

At the Fast & Fresh competition on June 25 in Carytown, artists have two hours, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., to complete a painting.

Paintings will be available to view and purchase at Brazier Gallery, 1616 W. Main St., from June 24 through 26, including a ticketed preview party June 24, 5 to 8 p.m. The $75 ticket price goes toward the purchase.

The event benefits the Richmond S.P.C.A. For tickets, email gmiller@richmondspca.org or call 804-512-1321.
