People’s Choice Awards Voting Open. The Library of Virginia has announced 10 finalists for the 20th annual People’s Choice Awards, representing the most-requested fiction and nonfiction titles by Virginia authors, or about the commonwealth, published in 2022. Winners will be announced at the 26th Annual Virginia Literary Awards Celebration on Oct. 14, 2023. Voting runs through July 31, 2023.
5k Joins the Ashland Half Marathon. The annual 13.1-mile race now has a 5k, too, both presented by Sports Backers and the Richmond Road Runners Club. Aug. 23, 6:30 and 7 a.m., beginning in downtown Ashland.
Taste: Celebrate the Chesapeake. Live music, locally inspired food, silent auctions, and more – to support the work of the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay. Sept. 7, 6 to 8 p.m., at Blue Atlas Restaurant and Market, Richmond.
