Library of Virginia presents awards at a gala book lovers’ event
Nine authors are the finalists for the Library of Virginia’s 21st Annual Library of Virginia Literary Awards Celebration honoring Virginia authors and works on a Virginia subject. The winners of the fiction, nonfiction, poetry and People’s Choice awards will be announced at a gala event on Oct. 20.
The evening will include a cocktail party, dinner, awards and book signings. Featured speaker for the evening is Susan Orlean, staff writer at The New Yorker and author of seven books, including The Orchid Thief, which was made into an Academy Award–winning film. The event attracts library supporters, authors, publishers and others who simply enjoy the written word.
