We’re back!
COVID kept us “off the air,” but now the Firehouse Radio Players are rested, vaxxed, and ready to return with all-new “lost classics” from the Golden Age of Radio. For our first stage show in almost two years we’ve prepared a line-up of tongue-in-cheek tales featuring a hapless husband and wife detective duo, the comedy stylings of Orson Welles, and adventure from beyond the stars, complete with live sound effects performed onstage and music by Free Jambalaya. We can’t wait to see you back in our studio audience for a return trip to those “thrilling days of yesteryear!”
In this episode: They could solve any crime, if only they could get a clue. We’ll catch up with a pair of married sleuths in Mystery and the Malones. Next, a movie is recreated for radio with the “help” of an uncooperative star in Hello from Hollywood. Then, we unearth another lost episode of Orson Welles’ radio sitcom All’s Welles That Ends Welles. And finally, prepare for blast-off with outer space escapades on The Thrilling Adventures of Captain Fremulon.

Who are we?
Firehouse Radio Players are a group of voice actors with a passion for radio and a wry sense of humor. A mix of Richmond theatre veterans and newcomers to the stage, the Players love the style and spirit of the Golden Age of Radio, the years between the 1930s and early 1960s when network radio brought comedy, music, mystery, and drama to listeners all over the country. With our shows, we hope to present a new slant on “old time radio,” with microphones at the ready and tongues firmly in cheek.
