Book Talk-Honey, Hush! with Dr. Daryl Cumber Dance

Join Daryl Cumber Dance, celebrated author and educator, for a discussion of African American women’s humor. She will include illustrations from her book Honey, Hush! which is an anthology of “often hard-hitting, sometimes risqué and always dramatic humor that arise from the depth of Black women’s souls and the breadth of their lives.” She will talk about the history and the function of our humor, read from the book as well as share thoughts, ideas, and encourage audience discussion. Dr. Dance has authored nine books and contributed to many others. She is a Professor of English, Emerita at the University of Richmond and has received numerous awards for her work.
