2014 Boomers and Shakers

By Cheryl Miller | December 5th, 2014

BOOMER magazine honors individuals in the Richmond, Virginia, area who are making a difference in our community.

Back in 2011, BOOMER decided to recognize the inspiring, impactful and influential of our community. We were overwhelmed with reader nominations of the well-known and the virtually unknown. Thus was born the eclectic It List.

Now we’re unveiling our fourth class of award winners. The It List has become Boomers & Shakers but, thanks to you readers, the winners are just as inspiring. We’re proud to introduce these nine remarkable people on the following pages.

For the fourth year, BOOMER is honoring local baby boomers and others – many of them nominated by you readers – who have stood tall.

They have bettered this community in important and inspiring ways.

You’ll meet them on the following pages in profiles written by Cheryl Miller and in portraits taken by Matt Stanton. Each will also be interviewed by Miller on WTVR-CBS 6’s Virginia This Morning.

Finally, the winners and guests also will be feted at an awards banquet in January.

Now, meet our 2014 Boomers & Shakers award winners, along with our five corporate sponsors who help make this celebration possible. Then begin thinking of your nominees for next year.
