Friday, Oct. 1 from 5-9 p.m. at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond
It’s that time of year, folks. You know, the time of year where we taste test a whole bunch of restaurants’ finest chili samples and vote on which one we like best and then get a full bowl of our favorite, all in support of the Visual Arts Center of Richmond. Ah, it really is the most wonderful time of the year.
2nd Street Festival
Saturday, Oct. 2 through Sunday, Oct. 3 in Jackson Ward
An entire weekend of music, entertainment, food, and spirits to commemorate the iconic neighborhood that was Richmond’s own “Harlem of the South.”
Powhatan’s Festival of the Grape
Saturday, Oct. 2 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
Featuring a delicious array of local wineries, cideries, meaderies, and distilleries. So really it’s more like Powhatan’s Festival of the Grape, Apple, Honey, and Warm Fuzzy Feelings, but that web domain must have already been taken.
Richmond Vegetarian Festival
Saturday, Oct. 2 from noon-6 p.m. at Byrd Park
No animals were harmed in the making of this festival.
Pocahontas Premieres: “Alma Latina”
Saturday, Oct. 2 from 5-6 p.m. at Pocahontas State Park
It’s Hispanic Heritage month, and the Latin Ballet of Virginia is ready to immerse audiences in culture and celebration. “Alma Latina” features music and dance inspired by layers and layers of Native American, Spanish, and African influences. ¡Bueno!
