Laughing Darshan and the Art of Laughter Offered in Richmond Gallery

Glave Kocen Gallery will host artist Slash Coleman as he offers Laughing Darshan on Friday Sept 7, 2018 – 8:00pm – 9:00pm then daily though September 14. Members of the general public are invited to make an appointment to sit with the artist as he guides individuals into one minute of voluntary silence followed by one minute of simulated laughter. Everyone of all ages and abilities is invited to participate and appointments can be scheduled online or at the venue on a first come first serve basis.

“Laughing with others without relying on jokes, humor or comedy can be a deeply intimate and expansive experience,” Slash Coleman says. “In addition, Laughing Darshan allows us to connect our laughter to a deep sense of love, grace, power, and bliss in another’s presence.”

Coleman is best known for his award-winning books and performances on PBS. In 2014, while on his book tour his right lung mysteriously collapsed. After his surgeon recommended laughter as a way to heal, he became a certified laughter yoga instructor.

Since then, he’s formed RVA Laugh Club, a weekly laughter club dedicated to creating healthier and happier lives, produced Richmond’s first World Laughter Day Celebration, hosts monthly laughter flash mobs, and established laughter programs at ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation and McGuire Veterans Hospital.

Laughing Darshan will take place at Glave Kocen Gallery 1620 W Main St. Richmond, VA 23220. It will begin on Friday, September 7 at 8:00pm and run daily though September 14.
